Avaliação da taxa de desistência por curso durante o processo seletivo SISU da Universidade Federal de Sergipe 2017 : uma análise com modelos hierárquicos

The Unified Selection System (Sisu) works as a type of auction, where the candidate must choose, in order of preference, up to two options among the vacancies offered by the participating institutions. During the registration period, the candidate is allowed to modify his / her options at times as he / she deems convenient, and he / she must pay attention to the cut-off note of the course of interest to ensure that he / she remains on the list. After the end of the registration period, SISU / MEC makes a regular call for results, where vacancies not used in the regular call are posted on a waiting list. If new vacancies arise, due to the withdrawal of classified candidates, alternates are transformed into classifieds. At the Federal University of Sergipe there was a large number of dropouts, which resulted in 9 calls for surpluses in 2017, with a total of 1842 candidates being called. The present work sought to identify which courses have the highest and lowest dropout rate in 2017, where, using Cluster Analysis techniques, sought to classify the courses according to the dropout rate. In 36% of the courses offered at the Aracaju and São Cristóvão Campus, the number of dropouts was greater than the number of places offered. It was observed that the highest dropout rates are directly associated with the candidates' knowledge of the profession, with the courses in Theater (86%), Science of Religion (86%) and Actuarial Sciences (82%) being the courses that impart the highest rate dropout, and courses with less dropout were Astronomy (6%), Medicine (9%) and Law (12%).
