This work aims to determine the financial factors that most characterize a successful company, based on the largest companies classified by Época Negócios magazine (2019). Regarding the methodological aspects, this research is classified as descriptive and of a quantitative nature. The sample used for the development of this study was the 354 largest companies, listed in Época Negócios magazine (2019), in addition, data from the first 10 companies listed in Época Negócios (2021) were used in order to make a comparison between the positions in which they appear in the aforementioned journal and the classification given by the ranking created in this work. After processing the data, they were arranged in Excel spreadsheets and then transferred to STATA 17.1, where the statistical procedures were performed. To determine the success factors, the principal component analysis (PCA) method was used. Components were created from the results of the analyses, namely, “greater wealth” (MRIQ), “greater debt” (MDIV), “greater working capital needs” (MNIG) and “more return and higher debt cost” (MRMK). From these components, it was possible to conclude that the companies that had the best successful financial performances were Petrobras, Eletrobras, Fibria, GPA, Globo, Grupo Carrefour, SABESP, Brasken, Copel, B3, Estácio, ENE, Grupo CCR, NTS , Votorantim, Évora, VLI and Brmalls. The 10 largest companies listed in Época Negócios (2021) were Petrobras, JBS, Ambev, Ultrapar, Vibra, Raizen, Marfrig, Cargill, Grupo Carrefour and Grupo Pão de Açúcar.
