Resumo: With the expansion of the Catholic faith in various parts of the world and the contact of European culture with the culture of the new world between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, various transformations were established and contributed to the new paths of human society and history in the centuries Later. In this aspect, this text, which presents itself as a bibliographical review, seeks to understand how the first manifestations and emergence of Catholic practices occurred in the ancient village of Geru, where today the city of Tomar do Geru / SE is located, until the creation of Parish of Our Lady of Socorro, the light of the main contributions on the subject in recent years
