This articule discusses the art well daying cristtian in the XVII century. The research takes as raw material the Breve Aparelho, published in the 1627 by priest Estevam de Castro. The methodology used to formulate the data was the “index Reading” proposed e practiced by Carlo Ginzburg (2011). In the approach was used the concepto of representation formulated by Roger Chartier (1990). The contribution made showed that the realization of the confession and preparation of a will is a primordial practice for the good of a christian to die in that century; are fundamental in the text of dying some caracters, bisides the miserable, the priest, the assistants, God, the devil, the virgin Mary, the angels and saints; the recitation of prayers constitute the indispensable componet racitation in the passage oh the christian to eternity. The results obtained, leads us to conclude the visiono of death is embedded in what Plillipe Ariès (2003) called “tamed death”
