Assuming that the informational records contribute to the construction and perpetuation of memory, this research investigation aims to demonstrate the importance of informational records as sources of knowledge, contributing to the construction and preservation of memory, as well as for the dissemination and retrieval of information within the information Science. The nature of this research is characterized as exploratory purposes to have as develop, clarify and modify concepts and ideas, in order to formulate more accurate searchable problems or hypotheses for further studies. Considering the importance of information for the construction of memory, it is necessary to emphasize the informational treatment records through the preservation and conservation of various documentary media. So that this information can be made available and accessed must be organized, registered and protected somewhere - physical or virtual: institutions that will always exist as inventory or places that store data and are indispensable for the preservation of informational records. However, information not recorded in some sort of physical or virtual support, important though it is not likely to be a more socialized. However, the information is recorded equal to the concept of information record, may significantly contribute to the preservation and recovery of memory. Therefore, preserving the informational records should be a permanent practice, because once destroyed, information retrieval can become unwieldy. To prevent damage to informational records, one of the available alternatives is the correct packaging, which can contribute to the conservation of documentary collections. Assigns to this organization Information Science, information processing and consequently to informational records, being the area that has as its object of study information, aiming its organization and treatment, in future this information can be used by several generations without limitations of time and space
