Resumo: | Frankliniella schultzei (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is an important insect-pest for agriculture that attacks several economic crops, including tomato crop. Climatic factors such as temperature and precipitation directly influence insect’s population dynamics and choice of tomato cultivation periods in crop field. Thus, this work aimed to determine models of spatiotemporal distribution for thrips F. schultzei. A climate model was developed using the CLIMEX program to understand the F. schultzei space-time distribution. At least 104 records of F. schultzei were collected worldwide using several search platforms for model building, including Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Data confirmation was performed using the software EPPO Plant Quarantine. The model validation was performed through thrips populational fluctuation data collected in 11 tomato crop fields located in the municipality of Coimbra-MG. According to the results, the occurrence of trips was higher in the months from January to May and October of December (first year), and in the months of March, October and November (second year). Similar results were observed in the model, indicating an agreement across the density values of F. schultzei and growth index, giving reliability to the model. Thus, the results must be useful for elaboration of management methods according to the site that presents high suitability and period of higher pest density. |

Fatores climáticos como temperatura e precipitação, influenciam diretamente a dinâmica populacional de insetos e a escolha dos períodos de cultivos do tomate em campo. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi determinar modelos de distribuição espaço-temporal para o tripes F. schultzei. Para entender a distribuição espaço-temporal de F. schultzei foi desenvolvido um modelo climático utilizando o programa CLIMEX. Para construção do modelo foram coletados pelo menos 104 registros de F. schultzei no mundo utilizando diversas plataformas de busca, incluindo a Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). A confirmação dos dados foi realizada através do software EPPO Plant Quarantine. A validação do modelo foi realizada através dados de flutuação populacional do tripes, coletados em 11 lavouras de tomate localizadas no município de Coimbra-MG. De acordo com os resultados, a ocorrência do tripes foi maior nos períodos compreendidos entre os meses de janeiro a maio e de outubro a dezembro (primeiro ano), e nos meses de março, outubro e novembro (segundo ano). Resultados semelhantes foram observados no modelo, indicando uma concordância entre os valores de densidade de F. schultzei e o índice de crescimento, dando confiabilidade ao modelo.
