This work is the result of a research in its theme addressed in the scope of the organization and preservation of an institutional photographic memory. The photographic collection of the Sergipe Trade Social Service (SESC / SE) was studied in its first period of operation, which runs from 1945 to 1964 with the objective of creating a catalog online as a research tool capable of assisting in the search of photographs And consequently to maintain an organization of the photographic collection. As a applied methodology, a qualitative research was carried out based on participatory observation - the action research and for the information about the photographic material, the documentary research methods were used for the project to create the SESC catalog. However, it is understood that there are a number of challenges to institutions when it comes to the organization model, the preservation and dissemination of the photographic collection. Through studies and the creation of the Sesc Photographic Catalog (1945-1964), it was possible to perceive how important this creation is for the control of the internal collection of the institution, as well as for future research related to the institution.
