A vulnerabilidade das mulheres no cárcere sergipano : uma análise interseccional através das narrativas do encarceramento feminino

This essay deals with female incarceration, focusing on the Sergipe’s context. The main objective of this dissertation is to understand and to analyze the vulnerabilities of imprisoned women in Sergipe through their narratives. From this investigative purpose, the specific objectives are to discuss how the selectivity process affects criminalized women; and therefore, the research was dedicated, through intersectionality, to examine the hypervulnerability of women imprisoned in Sergipe; to investigate the identities, vulnerabilities and social control of these women from their incarceration narratives. In order to fulfill the essay, a mixed methodology (quali-quantitative) was used, based on a bibliographical and documental review with contributions from critical criminology. Moreover, it was accomplished a descriptive analysis of secondary data provided by: the National Penitentiary Department; the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics; and the Institute of Applied Economic Research. In this sense, the hypothesis is verified and it is concluded that the narratives of women incarcerated at PREFEM attest to the vulnerability to which they are subjected, whether due to exposure to poverty, male chauvisnism, informal social control and abusive relationships, which demonstrates the link between the place and the non-place of women with regard to existing gender inequalities.
