Resumo: The large amount of waste generated, due to the growth of cities, has been somewhat worrying, because part of this which is generated is disposed incorrectly, harming the environment and public health. Thus, the study of gravimetric composition of solid waste of a region, contributes to the improvement of management plans and selective collection. In this sense the present work analyzes quantitatively and qualitatively the waste generated in the city of Juiz de Fora-MG. The study was conducted at the Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning – DEMLURB, through collections of samples of neighborhoods that were selected by the economic analysis of seven administrative divisions of the city.

Sendo assim o estudo da composição gravimétrica dos resíduos sólidos de uma região, contribui para a melhoria dos planos de gerenciamento e coleta seletiva.
