Resumo: | Introduction: Stroke is caused by the suppression of blood supply to the brain (ischemic or hemorrhagic), being responsible for cognitive sequelae in post-stroke individuals, currently in Brazil the number of stroke cases has increased, studies indicate that it may be due to the covid19 pandemic. Therefore, studies show that one of the cognitive processes affected in this stroke is metamemory, which is the ability that a person has to reflect on their memory. Being important for daily life activities, academic learning and inter-subject relationships. Objective: We sought to understand the impact that stroke has on metamemory and how it influences the subject's activities of daily living and communication. Methodology: This is a literature review composed of a sample of 11 studies. For that, a search was carried out in the Lilacs, Pubmed, Google Scholar and Scielo databases, using the descriptors "metamemory", "metacognition", "cerebrovascular accident" and their respective descriptors in English combined by the Boolean operators. Results: The results showed the damage that stroke can cause in the ability of an individual to metamemory in any age group, reducing the efficiency of this capacity and consequently influencing the daily lives of these subjects at a social, academic, professional and personal level, since, it is related to the learning process and the execution of various dayto-day activities. Conclusion: Despite the available collection on the subject, the need for a protocol aimed at screening the efficiency of metamemory capacity in post-stroke individuals was identified. |
