Resumo: This research is an initial study that seeks to analyze the definitions of the Relation to Knowledge based on the work of Bernard Charlot. The methodology was woven through the analysis of some publications by the aforementioned author. As a result, we found that the definitions presented by Charlot in his Work, present evolutionary characteristics and are complementary to each other, so that the relations of value and meaning are related to the subject's relationship with the world, as it relates to the another and with yourself. In this way, we recognize this set of relationships – Relationship with the world, with the other and with oneself – as being the likely canonical definition of the relationship to knowledge. Finally, we believe that more researches developed in this area can be added to those of Charlot, in order to present their own definitions in broader contexts, beyond the problem of school failure, studied by the author.

A metodologia foi tecida através da análise de algumas publicações do referido autor. Como resultados, verificamos que as definições apresentadas por Charlot em sua Obra, apresentam características evolutivas e são complementares entre si, de modo que as relações de valor e sentido, estão relacionadas a relação do sujeito com o mundo, à medida que se relaciona com o outro e consigo mesmo. Dessa maneira, reconhecemos esse conjunto de relações – Relação com o mundo, com o outro e consigo mesmo- como sendo a provável definição canônica da relação ao saber.
