Resumo: In this study, we will analyze the international trade in antiques, with an approach to its origins and those involved in this illegal market, as well as its actions, its modus operandi, and the forgeries that finance terrorism and supply a mafia installed behind the glamor of the art market. We aim to understand how the trade in arts and antiques began and its implications today. The methodology applied is that of a bibliographical review, using mostly journalistic sources. The investigation takes into account the historical and criminological perspectives, making it possible to dissect the trafficking of antiquities and its international market in terms of how it works and how it expands by various means, whether in History and Art or Archaeology and Geopolitics since it was possible to observe that the perpetrator of the theft of antiquity, be it a work by Leonardo da Vinci or an archaeological artifact, is just a chess piece in the geopolitical game that exists in the international network.

O objetivo é compreender como o tráfico de artes e antiguidades se iniciou e suas implicações na atualidade. A metodologia aplicada é a de revisão bibliográfica, utilizando, na maior parte, fontes jornalísticas.
