Resumo: This project aims to analyze how the narrative and discursive strategies inherent in the documentary genre, police narrative, and historical fiction are appropriated by the series Mindhunter to construct its realism. Created by Joe Penhall and based on the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit, the series follows two FBI agents who delve into the psychology of murder in the 1970s. The project seeks to understand the realistic strategies employed by the series, considering its grounding in established genres and its fictional construction based on real events. By examining how these three genres operate in constructing verisimilitude in Mindhunter, it is possible to grasp how the series builds its realism and depicts the world of serial killers. The blending of reality and fiction, the hybridization of genres, and the elements present in the plot reinforce the complexity and immersion provided by the series, utilizing mimesis and verisimilitude to create an authentic and engaging narrative. Additionally, the series incorporates historical elements and faithfully recreates real characters, adding authenticity to the storyline. By combining elements from the documentary genre, historical fiction, and police narrative, Mindhunter constructs a compelling and realistic representation of the world of serial killers.

O projeto busca compreender as estratégias realistas utilizadas pela série, considerando sua ancoragem em gêneros consolidados e sua construção ficcional baseada em fatos reais. Ao analisar como esses três gêneros operam na construção de verossimilhança na série Mindhunter, é possível compreender como a série constrói seu realismo e representa o universo dos serial killers.
