Introduction: The human foot is a complex body structure considered responsible for posture control, balance maintenance and movement execution. With aging, the foot becomes vulnerable to deformities, with hallux valgus (HV) being one of the most prevalent. Objective: The general objective was to evaluate the effect of therapeutic bandage application on the physical performance of elderly with hallux valgus. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Twenty elderly with hallux valgus deformity were evaluated. The evaluation instruments used were a questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical questions; Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE); goniometer for HV graduation; Chair sit-up test and the functional gait speed test. Results: A statistically significant difference was observed in the sit-up test after bandage application (p = 0.0032). However, between the different degrees of hallux valgus , no significant difference was found in the sit-up (p = 0.25) and gait speed (p = 0.20) tests. Conclusion: The bandage in hallux valgus correction may influence physical performance (strength / power of lower limbs) of the elderly. The difference in HV grading does not seem to influence the sit-up and gait speed tests.
