The present work has the objective to analyze the document management central archive of the Federal University of Sergipe, considering the importance of this process to the access to information administrative, historical and scientific in public institutions of top education. The from understructure theoretical contemporary on archives, to foreground the characteristic features and properties group of documents, the life cycle, classification, document management, highlighting the existing tools such as the table of temporality and the classification plan of , the existence of a document management system is presented. Thereby The work was based on the literature review and archival legislation in force of Brazil the institution exploration. That study to constitute a investigation qualitative of source exploratory .in order to development of same to elect as technique the interview structured in the observation direct to the collection data intended the preparation the diagnose do center archives.
