Frequência de doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica (DPOC), seus sintomas e fatores de risco em pacientes com suspeita de doença arterial coronariana (DAC)

Objetives: Assess frequency of COPD, its symptoms and risk factors in patients with suspected Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). Methods: It is a descriptive sectional analytic double-blind study where were assessed 60 patients with suspected ischemia who underwent Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy (MPS) for its confirmation. All were submitted to spirometry and a questionnaire about the main symptoms of COPD. The patients were then divided into two groups: with CAD and without CAD. Results: In 10 patients (16 %) was confirmed CAD. In the CAD group 1 (10 %) had COPD and in the other group, 2 patients (4 %). The FEV1/FVC and FEV1 (% of predicted) of patients with COPD were less representative in cardiac patients. In relation to risk factors and symptoms of COPD, between the groups with and without CAD, independent of confirmation of COPD by spirometry, there was a statistically significant difference (p= 0.028) only when compared with mMRC = 2 that was significantly greater in patients without CAD. Conclusion The prevalence of COPD was higher in patients with CAD than in patients without CAD. The most frequent symptom was dyspnea and the main risk factor found was smoking. It is necessary the knowledge of well-defined criteria to indicate scintigraphy myocardial perfusion
