Aging is a natural human development process, which involves structural, functional and neurobiological changes. In addition, factors such as quality and lifestyle, environmental and sociocultural factors also affect the body, such as food, sedentary lifestyle and exercise. Assistive Technology (AT) in Long Stay Institutions for the Elderly (ILPIs) aim to increase independence, autonomy and level of security, in addition to reducing expenses with possible hospitalizations related to falls. Thus, the referred work had as general objective to investigate the accessibility of the internal and external spaces of the ILPI and; as specific: identifying which assistive technologies are used in the institution, assessing whether the internal and external spaces attend the NBR 9050/2020 protocol, and observing whether the spaces assure accessibility for people with a disability. The methodology used was qualitative with a descriptive and observational approach, through the analysis of the environment based on the norms of NBR 9050/2020. In this context, the results and discussions were based on the analysis and evaluation of the institution's environment, such as residential areas and external areas. In addition, the assistive technologies found were accessibility in architectural projects, auxiliary devices for walking and positioning devices. Several issues need to be repaired by the institution, such as the lack of tactile signaling, uneven floors, practices and resources to promote autonomy and independence, among others. Finally, we concluded that, based on the results obtained through observations, evaluations and perceptions of the researchers, it is noted that most of the institution's spaces attended the Regulatory Norm.
