The diffusion of scientific and technological knowledge, essential for the development of the country, will only happen with a quality training to the demand that innovation requires them, crucial to implementing development. In particular training in engineering, since these professionals should be able to create and apply knowledge, promote research with companies through support for research and development (R & D). Discussed in this work the national indicators in the training of human resources of engineering and its influence on technological development. To this end, we used the indicators published by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and Ministry of Education and Culture. In this perspective, the training of engineers plays a fundamental role, as the intellectual capacity becomes both the main raw material as the main product of the new knowledge-based economy.
