The construction of a Nursing Care Model for Pediatric Intensive Care Units is essential, since it enables the systematization of care and meeting the client's needs, enabling the prescription and execution of nursing care. The absence of a care model may cause weaknesses in nursing care and, therefore, a lack of systematization in care, which could endanger the integral health of the patient. Objective: To propose a Nursing Care Model, based on Nursing Theories and other theoretical references, which can be used in Pediatric Intensive Care Units. Method: This study is a descriptive methodological research and quantitative approach. The Gibbs reflexive cycle was used for the construction of the care model. The observation units were composed of reports – prepared by undergraduate nursing students at the Federal University of Sergipe during the supervised internship – and theoretical references regarding nursing care provided in pediatric intensive care units. Results and discussion: As a result of this study, we obtained the analysis of the nursing care profile - directed to patients dependent on care in Pediatric Intensive Care Units -, through which it was possible to propose a nursing care model for this sector hospital. Conclusion: It was proposed a nursing care model for Pediatric Intensive Care Units based on the Humanistic Theory and the Basic Human Needs Theory, as well as a data collection instrument and a list containing the main Nursing diagnoses, interventions and outcomes. international nomenclatures, both inherent in the proposed model.
