The present study aims to analyze the relationship between depression and job insecurity. A qualitative and exploratory bibliographical research was carried out in the light of Marxian thought. It is shown how labor, an essential category of the capitalist mode of production and source of survival of the worker can cause various diseases to the individual, due to the system of exploitation and the precarious conditions of the world of work. Work-related illnesses are shown from the forms of precariousness and then the relationship between depression and job insecurity is pointed out. It has been found that among the many possible mental illnesses that the worker may have, mental and behavioral disorders are the most recurrent, especially depression. We consider this subject relevant to Social Work because the social worker deals daily with the expressions of the "social question" and also with the precariousness and intensification of the work of the users.
