Resumo: The success of forest species plantation depends directly on the production of good quality seedlings, which are influenced by several factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth of four native tree species using as containers polypropylene tubes of 56 cm³, polypropylene tubes of 120 cm³ and polyethylene bags of 800 cm³, as well as 5 doses of phosphate fertilizer (180, 360, 540, 720 and 900 g P2O5/m³ substrate). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications in a factorial 3x5, totaling fifteen treatments. For the production of seedlings, the substrate used was composed of black soil, washed sand and corral manure, in the proportion 3:1:1 for polyethylene bags and Multiplant, black soil and washed sand (3:1:1) to the tubes. The parameters measured were shoot height and diameter, obtained 75 days after emergence to determine the absolute growth. The data were subjected to multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) at 5% significance. The differences between means were detected by the Duncan Test and the analyzes were performed using the SPSS 17 program. The use of containers with larger volumes caused the highest absolute growth for diameter and height and the highest mean concentrations were found between 360 and 540 g P2O5/m³.
