Resumo: | Coconut, the fruit of the coconut palm Cocos nucifera, is cultivated in several countries and due to its high production and commercialization, its residues contribute greatly to environmental pollution if not properly disposed of in the environment. Coconut husks are basically made up of fibers and are the waste with the largest volume and slow degradation. When the coconut is in an immature (green) state, the fibers have a liquid as a by-product called Green Coconut Shell Liquid (GCSL), which has high polluting potential but also a heterogeneous chemical composition that allows its reuse to contribute to the generation of bioproducts, while promoting the eco-friendly disposal. That said, this work held a brief discussion about some of the different applications cited in the literature for the GCSL. |
