It is worth emphasizing the representation of the different female faces in the novel Gabriela, clove and cinnamon, of the Bahian writer Jorge Amado, located in the social context of the Brazilian Northeast, more specifically, in the city of Ilhéus, Bahia coast, of women, their lack of freedom of expression has been one of the privileged themes in literature, almost always illustrated by the gaze of men, like the novel we chose as the corpus of the present work. In this work of fiction, published in 1958, we have as main characters Malvina, Glória and Gabriela, the last being our protagonist character, identified in the novel, by characteristics extremely opposite to what was expected of the women living in that scenario illustrated by Jorge Beloved.
