Aspectos clínicos e epidemiológicos da introdução do vírus Chikungunya em Sergipe

Introduction: Chikungunya fever is an emerging acute febrile illness that results high morbidity. Objective: This study aims to describe the clinical and epidemiological aspects of the introduction of the Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) in Sergipe. Method: This is an ecological study, with secondary data from the National System of Notifiable Diseases (SINAN) and Central Laboratory of Sergipe (LACEN / SE), between 2015-2017. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were studied in confirmed Chikungunya cases in the state of Sergipe. Data were tabulated by TABWIN and exported to Excel® 2016. Statistical analysis was performed using OpenEpi and chi-square test (p <0.05). Results: There was a rapid expansion of the disease in Sergipe, reaching 82.7% of the municipalities in 3 years, with greater involvement of the health micro-regions Grande Aracaju and Agreste Central. Of the 8806 confirmed cases, women (60.79%), individuals aged 20-59 (63.04%), browns (27.46%), and urban residents (51.95%) predominated. Fever (83.8%), myalgia (77.9%) and arthralgia (63.1%) are among the most frequent symptoms. Conclusion: The CHIKV has great potential to spread in the territory and its symptoms can be confused with other infectious conditions. It is necessary to deepen the knowledge about the various aspects involved in the control, diagnosis and clinical management.
