Voto e arrependimento nas eleições presidenciais de 2018 no Brasil

In order to analyze regret feeling and justifications that voters associate to their votes in the 2018 presidential election, electronic questionnaires were sent, between 04/30/21 and 05/17/2021, to 376 Brazilians. The results indicated a low percentage of regretting voters. Lexical analysis about the explanations to regret indicates that disappointment prevailed: 30% of Bolsonaro voters, which disappointed with his government, do not regret. The “not regretting” was explained by the high religious identification; by the level of moral conservatism and traditionalism; by the Far-Right position in the spectrum; by the perception of a communist threat; by the belief that a military regime is not a threat and, mainly, by the distrust of the STF. It is concluded that the psychology of regret has important contributions to make stronger the knowledge of the necessary vectors to enhancement of democracy in Brazil.
