Objectives: General - To verify the knowledge of the use of the male condom in the adolescents of a Public School on the prevention of STD/ AIDS. Specific: -To study the adolescent students according to sociodemographic data. Observe the main means of information that adolescents have about STD/ AIDS. Methods: The research was outlined in the form of a comparative study, carried out in a public school in the municipality of Lagarto-Sergipe. The chosen population was formed by students regularly enrolled in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of high school, the morning and afternoon shifts. The cut age group of adolescents interviewed was between 12 and 19 years old. After the contact and authorization of the school's management, the data were collected through a standardized and validated, selfresponsive questionnaire, composed of closed questions. The inclusion criteria were: to accept to participate voluntarily in the research, to be between 12 and 19 years old and to be duly enrolled in the morning and afternoon period in the referred series. And as exclusion criteria: cognition deficit, not present on the day the questionnaire was applied. Results: 150 questionnaires were applied among students who comprised an age group of 12 to 19 years. The students comprised 59.33% female and 40.66% male. Regarding sexual life, 34% reported having an active sex life. Contraceptive use at the first sexual intercourse was reported at 62.74%. Regarding the knowledge about contraceptive methods they knew how to use, 50.66% said they know how to use a male condom, and 38.66%, the pill. The main source of information on contraceptive methods was school, with 66.00%. Conclusion : According to the results of the study, a great evolution in the adolescents' knowledge about the use of condoms in relation to the prevention and transmission of STD / AIDS was observed, if we compare, for example, the research done by Dantas (2016). In general, adolescents are not biologically prepared for early sexual activity and are not sufficiently knowledgeable to identify the factors that expose them to STD / AIDS vulnerability. 41 The majority of adolescents were between 14 and 16 years of age; they were male, single, brown, Catholic. When one considers the question of age, boys started sex life earlier than girls. The use of condoms in adolescents was the best way to prevent STD / AIDS, although not everyone uses this method. Although most of the students use the condom, their use was conditioned by their partner's knowledge and trust, STD / AIDS prevention. Other factors responsible for dispensing condoms are trust in the partner and the simple fact of knowing the person.
