Resumo: The theme of this research is Christopher Columbus: between fiction, documentary and reality. It is linked to the field of the history of the Americas, aiming to analyze how the construction of the figure of Christopher Columbus in cinematography takes place. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the following steps were observed: conducting research on the biography of Columbus, reading and recording the book Cristóvão Columbus: Diários da Descoberta da América (1997), analysis of the documentary Cristóvão Columbus – The Great Adventures/Grandes Explorers, watching the movie 1492: Conquest of Paradise and viewing the documentary Christopher Columbus in America. Discussions were established based on Colombo (2013). Finally, it is considered that the figure of Christopher Columbus is enigmatic and contradictory and his image is built in the cinematography in a way that does not match the real historical version as a whole.

As discussões foram estabelecidas com base em Colombo (2013).
