The present study aims to investigate the violence and aesthetics of cruelty present in the anime Shingeki No Kyajin (2013). The research problem is to analyze how the previously mentioned themes are expressed with visibility in cinematographic characters and political conflicts. In this sense, the text seeks to explore the fabric of cruelty in cinema and television through anime. The research methodology is comparative, using the concepts of cinema and the aesthetics of cruelty to spread the analysis of this research. For the effective occurrence of this, scholars in the area were gathered to better support the research, some of them: Antonin Artaud (2006), Clément Rosset (1989), Hannah Arendt (2004) and Maura Regina Modena (2016) to elucidate concepts about the aesthetics of cruelty and violence. In the second moment, Edgar Morin (1970) and Fagner Torres de França (2012) aim to understand the fabric of cruelty in the body of cinema. In this way, the research was directed linearly, as it first highlighted the concepts on the aforementioned themes and maintained the analysis in the third chapter, mediating a study with the theorist Michel Foucault, through the works Surveil and Punish: Birth of Prison (1987).
