Resumo: | Brazil is a country recognized worldwide for the ethnic diversity of its population, as demonstrated by demographic censuses conducted every ten years by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). After data collection, the results found demonstrate that a significant number of citizens consider themselves black. It is a huge contingent of people who have been facing any process of history that describes racial and cultural devaluation, sustained by a series of concepts and prejudices that have been assimilated by or with the passing of time by Brazilian society, sending them to the social limbo gap of differences. With the redemocratization of the country after 20 years of military dictatorship and the promulgation of a new Constitution, this reality was the target of institutional initiatives with no sense of rescuing the importance of this ethnic group in the formation of the Brazilian people, as well as the promotion of actions through inclusive actions. Among the various public policy projects aimed at people of African descent, Law 10,639 / 2003 was enacted, which makes the teaching of African history and AfroBrazilian culture mandatory at all levels of education in public and private schools in Brazil. However, there are not many initiatives that indicate museological institutions as useful tools in the teaching of African History, Afro-Brazilian culture, and the important contributions of the African peoples enslaved 2 here. This study analyzes the possible dialogue in the pedagogical field between the Afro-Brazilian Museum of Sergipe (MABS) installed in the city of Laranjeiras, and the teaching of History, within the parameters defined by the aforementioned law. Has MABS adapted itself to serve the minorities forgotten by history who see in the memory spaces the possibility of demanding their presence in the elaboration of an Afro-Brazilian culture and of exercising their rights as citizens? Answering this question is the objective of this research. |

Has MABS adapted itself to serve the minorities forgotten by history who see in the memory spaces the possibility of demanding their presence in the elaboration of an Afro-Brazilian culture and of exercising their rights as citizens?
