Terapia ocupacional e possibilidades de intervenção junto a adolescentes usuários de álcool e outras drogas: revisão da literatura

The use of alcohol and other drugs by adolescents implies the formulation of a network of policies and effective strategies, with quality and resolution, being the occupational therapist a professional with skills for this work. The aim of this study was to review the iterature on occupational therapist professional practice with adolescents who use alcohol and other drugs. A systematic review was performed in Occupational Therapy journals, other journals and databases, using as descriptors: Adolescents; Mental health services e Substance-related disorders. It was identified that the scientific production in the area is reduced, of the 6,912 articles, only three met the inclusion criteria of this study. Although limited, this literature review presented some strategies used by occupational therapists among adolescents who use alcohol and other drugs. In the three papers included there is a limitation in the presentation of the fundamentals and theories that guide professional practice, regardless of the choice of therapeutic resources. Neither the papers proposed to make a macrosocial analysis of the issue of drugs in the adolescent universe, only aimed to describe a specific intervention focused on specific subjects or groups highlighting the potentiality of the resources used in the intervention. The articles used are considered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategies and resources used in the interventions. However, the practical knowledge of the occupational therapist and his ways of working with this population regarding the research theme is still precarious and little explored, which highlights the importance of future research in this area.
