Desafios e perspectivas para a promoção da educação ambiental nos anos finais do ensino fundamental em uma escola pública sergipana

Resumo: The socio-environmental changes observed in recent decades show that the world has been going through a serious socio-environmental crisis, making it urgent to think and act in relation to the relationship between human beings and the environment. It is clear that the environment is not able to withstand the consequences of these impacts that affect the quality of life of species across the planet. Thus, Environmental Education (EE) is presented as a permanent educational process for the transformation of the world into a less unfair and more sustainable place. EE in the school context contributes to the formation of conscious citizens, capable of making decisions and acting in socio-environmental realities, it is important that, in addition to information and concepts, the school is willing to work with the formation of attitudes, values and, in consonance with the articulation between theory and practice. Thus, the problem that guides this research arose: What are the challenges faced by teachers of the final years of Elementary Education (EF) of a school in Sergipe for the development of EE in this stage of Basic Education? Therefore, it was defined as a general objective to understand the difficulties experienced by teachers of a school in Sergipe for the development of EE in the final years of Elementary School. The main references used in this study included the authors Freire (2007), Guimarães (2004), Layrargues and Lima (2014). The research is qualitative, and was carried out through semi-structured interviews with six professors who teach Science and Geography classes at the institution Colégio Estadual Professora Glorita Portugal. Faced with the conceptions, strategies and challenges listed by the interviewees to promote EE, there was a strong influence of the conservationist tendency, although there are signs of the Critical tendency in some speeches. In addition, it is clear that it is possible to promote EE in accordance with what is defined by the National EE Policy and the National EE Curricular Guidelines, it is necessary to articulate theory and practice in teaching from an interdisciplinary and transversal perspective, however, the results showed that the investigated school is still not fully following the guidelines present in the legal documents in force.

Fica nítido que o ambiente não é capaz de suportar as consequências desses impactos que afetam a qualidade de vida das espécies em todo o planeta. Assim, a Educação Ambiental (EA) se apresenta como um processo educativo permanente para a transformação do mundo em um lugar menos injusto e mais sustentável. A EA no âmbito escolar contribui para a formação de cidadãos(ãs) conscientes, capazes de tomar decisões e agir nas realidades socioambientais, então é importante que, além de informações e conceitos, a escola esteja disposta a trabalhar com a formação de atitudes e valores e em consonância com a articulação entre teoria e prática. Desse modo, surgiu o problema que norteia esta pesquisa: quais os desafios enfrentados por docentes dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental (EF) de uma escola sergipana para o desenvolvimento da EA nessa etapa da Educação Básica? Para tanto, definiu-se como objetivo geral compreender as dificuldades vivenciadas por professores de uma escola sergipana para o desenvolvimento da EA nos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental. As principais referências utilizadas neste estudo compreenderam os autores Freire (2007), Guimarães (2004) e Layrargues e Lima (2014). A pesquisa é de cunho qualitativo e se deu através de entrevista semiestruturada realizada com seis docentes que ministram aulas de Ciências e Geografia na instituição Colégio Estadual Professora Glorita Portugal. Diante das concepções, das estratégias e dos desafios elencados pelos(as) entrevistados(as) para promover a EA, verificou-se forte influência da tendência conservacionista, apesar de haver indícios da tendência Crítica em algumas falas. Além disso, fica nítido que é possível promover a EA em conformidade com o definido pela Política Nacional de EA e pelas Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais de EA.
