Objectives: Evaluate the clinical and epidemiological profile and the therapeutic approach in patients with wheezing attacks admitted in a public hospital in Aracaju. Methods: Sectional and descriptive study, with data collected in a prospective manner, performed at the Urgent Care Hospital of sergipe. The data collection was carried out between march and may/2013, through research in the medical records or interview with those responsible for the patients, using a standardized questionnaire. This contained clinical information (signs, symptoms, pathological antecedents, treatments carried out in hospital) and epidemiological characteristics (family income, level of education of parents, housing conditions). Results: Among fifty pacients evaluated, more than half of the patients had about 5 months and 15 days of life. The largest part (60%) were male. Almost half (48%) of the mothers of patients had incomplete elementary education. All hospitalized patients used corticotherapy and in 96% of cases was associated with the use of inhaled beta-2-agonists. The antibiotic therapy was used in over half of the cases. None of the patients studied was aminophylline, vasoactive drugs or mechanical ventilation. Wheezing, cough, dyspnea and nasal symptoms showed the highest frequency. Conclusions: There was a high frequency of wheezing and nasal symptoms. High use of steroids and antibiotics. High frequency of allergens in the home and high frequency of early weaning from breastfeeding.
