The process of occupation of the Brazilian Northeast, especially the coastal area, was mostly colonized by cattle or sugar cane farmers, as was the case of the current municipality of Siriri in the State of Sergipe, which, like many cities in this state, which was one of the 14 hereditary captaincies, has undergone many changes since its founding to the present day. In this context, this research aims to bring understanding and dissemination of the importance of maintaining and/or rescuing the stories and memories of a people. This is a qualitative research developed in the municipality of Siriri/SE, with regard to methodological procedures, a bibliographical research and filing were carried out as a way to facilitate the textual production. Thus, it was still necessary to carry out field research in the municipality of Siriri/Se. Given the above, it was possible to observe that the memories and cultures of the population of the city of Siriri/SE are not being preserved. With regard to the concern of the new generations with the loss of memories and the culture of their people, it was evidenced through the reports about the Piripiri mill made by the elders, that they valued and try to maintain the cultural heritage coming from the locality, proof of this is school and staying on farms where they worked when they were younger. However, little is known about this mill and its history.
