O ensino de inglês em tempos da COVID-19 : percepções de docentes e discentes do CODAP/UFS

Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic forced schools around the world, from kindergarten to higher education, to suspend classroom classes and adopt the ERL modality, which is different from distance education, to continue the education of millions of people. At CODAP/UFS it was no different. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to analyze the perception of students and teachers of elementary school II in this school about the difficulties and benefits provided by this modality in the English course. For this purpose, a qualitative and quantitative descriptive field study was carried out, which collected data through online questionnaires, for a sample of 42 students and 2 professors. The results show several difficulties and some benefits perceived by the respondents. It is concluded that, among the various perceptions, the nostalgia for in-person classes is the greatest difficulty experienced by students during the ERL, which imposed an overload of work on teachers, considerably increasing physical and mental fatigue, making none of the respondents want to continue with 100% remote classes, despite everything, the fact that almost half of them prefer the hybrid modality demonstrates that the ERL brought benefits they perceived and that they can be used/appropriated in the education system when the social distance ends.

No CODAP/UFS não foi diferente. Por isso, o objetivo deste trabalho é conhecer a percepção de discentes e docentes do ensino fundamental II desse colégio quanto às dificuldades e benefícios proporcionados por tal modalidade na disciplina de inglês. Para tanto, foi feito um estudo quali-quantitativo descritivo de campo, que coletou dados por meio de questionários online, para uma amostra de 42 discentes e 2 docentes. Os resultados mostram diversas dificuldades e alguns benefícios percebidos pelos respondentes. Conclui-se que, dentre as diversas percepções, a saudade das aulas presenciais é a maior dificuldade sentida pelos discentes durante o ERE, que impôs uma sobrecarga de trabalho aos professores, aumentando consideravelmente as fadigas física e mental, fazendo com que nenhum deles quisesse continuar com as aulas 100% remotas.
