Resumo: | Surfactants are compounds with a wide range of industrial applications; however, they present certain toxicity to various ecosystems. Therefore, biosurfactants have been used as substitutes for synthetic surfactants. Nevertheless, these biomolecules are costly compared to synthesized compounds, making their large-scale utilization unfeasible. In this regard, there is a great effort to reduce the production costs of biosurfactants in order to make them competitive with synthetic surfactants. One of the factors that will contribute to the biosurfactants’ competitiveness is increasing the yield of the production process by employing different types of microorganisms. Hence, this study analyzes the literature to discuss the productivity associated with different microorganisms in biosurfactant production, demonstrating the economic viability of these compounds. |

Dessa forma, os biossurfactantes vêm sendo utilizados como substitutos para os tensoativos sintéticos. Entretanto, essas biomoléculas possuem um alto custo quando comparada aos compostos sintetizados, tornando inviável a sua utilização em larga escala. Neste sentido, há um grande esforço em reduzir os custos atrelados à produção dos biossurfactantes, visando torná-los competitivos em relação aos surfactantes sintéticos. Um dos fatores que tornarão os biossurfactantes mais competitivos é o aumento do rendimento do processo produtivo, adotando para isso diferentes tipos de microrganismos.
