Resumo: The brand registration is a type of intellectual property protection mode which contributes to the process of innovation in companies when effected with the INPI - National Institute of Industrial Property. The company becomes more visible to the consumer market, and the brand a valuable asset for the same. It is in this context that this study aimed to conduct a diagnosis of the scenario of Brazilian companies in the segment of alcoholic beverages (except beers) who recorded their marks in the National Institute of Industrial Property. The survey results were obtained by recovering the brand records found at the INPI site. After analyzing the data obtained, it was realized that the Southeast region of Brazil stood out in applications for trademark registration with the INPI, specifically the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The Individual Limited Liability Company - ME (Micro Enterprise) and the Cooperatives had the lowest participation in trademark registration requests. Finally, it was found that companies prefer to register the trademark with mixed denomination, being concerned about protecting the brand altogether from naming to logo or imprint, and can differentiate their products from competitors.

A empresa torna-se mais visível para o mercado consumidor, sendo a marca um ativo valioso para a mesma. É neste contexto, que presente estudo teve o objetivo de realizar um diagnóstico do cenário das empresas brasileiras do segmento de bebidas alcoólicas (exceto cervejas) que registraram as suas marcas no Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial (INPI). Os resultados da pesquisa foram obtidos através da recuperação dos registros de marca consultados no site do INPI. A região Sudeste do Brasil se destacou em pedidos de registro de marca no INPI, mais precisamente os estados de São Paulo e Minas Gerais. A Empresa Individual de Responsabilidade Limitada – ME (Micro Empresa) e as Cooperativas apresentaram as menores participações nos pedidos de registro de marca.
