Resumo: Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) has been proposed to preserve and increase osteogenesis and angiogenesis by a gradual release of cytokines and growth factors. Thus, this literature review aims to investigate the potential alveolar preservation after platelet-rich fibrin treatment. In this way, a literary search was performed in PubMed database using a DeCS descriptors as “Platelet-Rich Fibrin”, “Bone Regeneration” and “Tooth Socket”. The articles found had titles and abstracts read, after the analysis to synthesize the information. PRF is a second-generation platelet autogenous material that has manipulation, low cost, does not require the addition of coagulants and does not induce body rejection. In addition, PRF has a great potential to induce healing and bone formation post-extraction alveolus. Its produces a matrix rich in leukocytes, cytokines and growth factors with slow and prolonged released, creating a favorable microenvironments and preserving a 3D bone growth. In order to achieve its objective, it is important that the extraction is minimally traumatic, in addition to obtaining important parameters in obtaining the PRF, mainly in the manipulation of blood tissue.. The PRF matrix utilization obtained favorable results in most studies found in this manuscript, mainly by a preservation of the alveolus dimensions for a future rehabilitation. Finally, PRF is recommended material for alveolar preservation, due to its low cost and to the effective regenerative therapy after potential use for bone construction and neoformation.
