Pista visual e velocidade de marcha de idosos com doença de Parkinson: estudo piloto no município de Lagarto

Introduction: Brazil is going through an epidemiological transition, where we observe an increase elderly population. In this scenario, the increase in chronic degenerative diseases, for example Parkinson's disease (PD), has become increasingly prevalent. In this disease, the most serious complications include impaired motor function. Objective: To evaluate the immediate effect of visual cue on gait speed in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods: This is a cross sectional, quantitative and descriptive study that evaluated gait speed with and without the use of the visual cue in 10 patients with PD, both sexes, aged 50 and over. The evaluation and data collection were carried out at the School of Physiotherapy Clinic of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), Lagarto - SE campus and at the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Municipality of Lagarto-SE. Two scales were used, Parkinson's Unified Assessment Scale (UPDRS) and Hoenh and Yahr to assess motor performance and disease classification, respectively, and two tests, TUG to assess risk of falls and TSL5x to assess potency muscle in lower limbs. Research patients underwent cognitive screening using the 10-CS scale and depressive signs through the EDG-15 Geriatric Depression Scale. Gait speed was evaluated in a 10-meter test. Results: It was possible to observe that the cross-sectional visual track provided an immediate increase in gait speed in patients with PD, being statistically significant (p-value <0.05). Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that the transverse line visual cue immediately increases gait speed in patients with Parkinson's disease.
