Syagrus coronata: processo de conversão de biomassa em bioprodutos energéticos

Resumo: Syagrus coronata is a palm tree native to Northeastern Brazil, typical of the semi-arid climate and with potential to become a primary raw material for generating bioproducts important in the energy transition. Biomass is a versatile energy source, which through efficient processes, such as gasification and fermentation, can be converted into different forms of energy. Therefore, the objective of this work was to perform a review regarding the applications of Syagrus coronata residues when converted into compounds with energy values. It was observed that the biomass from S. coronata presented several applications, such as pollutants removal from both water and soil by the production of adsorbents; use in agriculture for soil correction and improvement, which increase fertility, water retention capacity, and nutrients in the soil; and biofuel and biokerosene production using the licuri oil. Finally, it is essential to continue the technological advancement and studies to explore the applications and physicochemical characteristics of these residues, searching for sustainable alternatives to fossil resources.

A biomassa é uma fonte energética versátil, sendo possível, por meio de processos eficientes como gaseificação e fermentação, ser convertida em diferentes formas energia. Posto isto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão das aplicações dos resíduos oriundos da Syagrus coronata, por meio do processo de conversão da biomassa em compostos com valor energético. Foi observado que a biomassa proveniente da S. coronata apresentou diversas aplicações, tais como: a remoção de poluentes, tanto da água como do solo pela produção de adsorventes; utilização na agricultura como corretivo e melhoramento de solos, promovendo a fertilidade e capacidade de retenção da água e nutrientes no solo; e produção de biocombustível e de bioquerosene utilizando o óleo de licuri.
