Resumo: | Expressive activities, such as dance and painting, are potential resources used by the occupational therapist to achieve diverse goals, transforming the expressions of the subject and reorganizing the meaning of their existence. The general objective of this research is to describe and discuss the intervention of the occupational therapist using dance and painting as a therapeutic resource in the context of institutionalization with groups of adolescents. Specific objectives: to evaluate the possible improvement of the self-esteem and expression of the adolescents in shelter situation after the occupational therapy groups and to describe the meaning of the occupational therapy groups for them. The methodology used in the research was qualitative, descriptive. The data collection was carried out through ten meetings, in which dance and activities with painting were used for a period of three months. Six subjects (three males and three females) participated in the study. It was possible to observe a change in the behavior of the participants because in the first meetings they felt inhibited and throughout the activities they were able to express themselves better through dance and paintings. Thus, it has been seen that it is of great importance to allow the subject in a situation of shelter the expression of their feelings, because often their expression and self-esteem are harmed by the whole process that the subject has lived and continues to experience. The occupational therapist with his humanist look, can contribute to the subjects express themselves better, bringing their desires and fears, and facilitating interpersonal relationships among adolescents through expressive activities. |

O objetivo geral dessa pesquisa é descrever e discutir a intervenção do terapeuta ocupacional utilizando a dança e a pintura como recurso terapêutico, no contexto da institucionalização com grupos de adolescentes. Objetivos específicos: avaliar a possível melhora da autoestima e expressão dos adolescentes em situação de abrigo após os grupos de terapia ocupacional e descrever o significado dos grupos de terapia ocupacional para eles. A metodologia utilizada na pesquisa foi qualitativa, descritiva. A coleta dos dados foi realizada por meio de dez encontros, na qual utilizou-se da dança e atividades com pintura, por um período de três meses. Participaram da pesquisa seis sujeitos (três do sexo masculino e 3 do sexo feminino). Foi possível observar uma mudança no comportamento dos participantes pois, nos primeiros encontros sentiam-se inibidos e ao longo das atividades conseguiram se expressar melhor por meio da dança e das pinturas. Assim, foi visto que é de grande importância possibilitar ao sujeito em situação de abrigo a expressão dos seus sentimentos, pois, muitas vezes sua expressão e autoestima são prejudicadas por todo o processo que o sujeito vivenciou e continua vivenciando.
