Resumo: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common cardiovascular disease of genetic etiology and is characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy. It is characterized as a problem present in both genders and is distributed across all age groups, however, weaknesses in health care, socio-racial factors and underdiagnosis interfere with mortality statistics. This research aimed to evaluate the mortality trend due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in Brazil from 2010 to 2020. This is an ecological study, with a time series with a quantitative approach based on secondary data from the Mortality System (SIM). Data collection took place between the months of January and March 2023, then they were tabulated using the TABWIN software (DATASUS) and exported to the Microsoft Excel 2019 program and later statistical analysis was performed using the R Core Team 2022 ( Version 4.1.0). Death incidences were modeled using a generalized linear model (GLM) with Poisson distribution estimated by the quasi-likelihood method. The absence of different angular coefficients was tested using the (pseudo) Score test and Average Annual Percent Change (AAPC) and Annual Percent Change (APC) were estimated to assess the existence of trends. The study showed a predominance of total deaths from HCM in white men aged 40 years or older. A growth trend was observed in the incidence of deaths from HCM, between 2010 and 2018, in the group of white and brown men and women, aged 40 years or older. During this period, the incidence increased more in females. The northeast and southeast regions led in death records during the period studied. In this sense, it is up to the government to invest in recognizing the variables that influence mortality from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, as well as encouraging health institutions to institute clinical approach protocols, in order to carry out an early diagnosis and increase survival rates and quality of life of the person with the disease.
