The objective of this review is to discuss the importance of the economic analysis of the milk production system in Compost Barn, to analyze the viability within the dairy cattle culture. The Compost Barn system is characterized by the use of comfortable facilities, with the use of a bed in the resting area, where the management of the bed becomes essential for the success of this system, in which the composting of organic matter and waste occurs. The economic analysis within a system like this, when properly conducted, offers a better control of the enterprise's finances, becoming essential in the management of production costs. The analysis of costs such as fixed and variable costs, effective operating cost, total cost and depreciation of assets, help in planning improvements and decision making within the production model. The use of economic indicators such as gross income, gross margin, net margin, break-even point, profitability and return on invested capital, points out the path that the producer needs to trace to succeed in the activity. The economic analysis can also assess the economic and financial feasibility of a project under execution or one to be implemented, through feasibility indicators such as net present value, internal rate of return and return, which will indicate the expected period that the investment will generate Profit. Therefore, an economic analysis becomes essential in the management of systems such as Compost Barn for giving greater control of production rates and management of property costs. Which may justify the search of Brazilian producers for modern systems, aimed at economic, environmental and social sustainability in dairy cattle, which has placed the confinement system in Compost Barn, as an alternative for the dairy farming of the future in the Brazil.
