Resumo: A survey of fungi associated with the palmito-juçara (Euterpe edulis) was conducted in small forest fragments in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro. Among the species found in the Atlantic Forest, Euterpe edulis used to be a prominent and common species, but a predatory exploitation combined with its slow growth and inability to clump caused a progressive thinning and, finally, an inclusion in the Brazilian threatened with extinction plant species list. Each plant species supports a unique mycobiota, however, there is little recognition for the fact that the dramatic mega-extinction brought about by human activities includes fungal species. The results obtained on the E. edulis microbiota are used to contribute to the conservation of microfungi. Nine species of fungi were collected, morphologically, and phylogenetically identified (molecular analyzes of the ACT, GAPDH ITS, LSU, and TUB2 regions), described and illustrated: Bipolaris oryzae; Colletotrichum theobromicola; Catenophora aff. gen. nov.; Corynespora aff. gen. nov.; Exosporium sp. nov.; Melanographium sp. nov.; Passalora eitenii; Pseudocercospora sp. nov.; Pyriculariopsis sp. nov. Three of the species of fungi found are known species while the others are considered new taxa for science, including two representing the standard species for the proposal of two new genera.

Three of the species of fungi found are known species while the others are considered new taxa for science, including two representing the standard species for the proposal of two new genera.
