This work aims to discuss an important issue when the subject is the Industrial Revolution, that is, it will focus precisely on how this phenomenon impacted and reconfigured the scenario of English society in the 19th century, in addition to bringing questions about the origin of capitalism and how was England, in terms of social structures, in that period. Thus, this article was divided into three parts: in the first, the main discussions on the origin of capitalism will be discussed, which is a key point to understand the revolution, in the light of the thinking of some authors such as: Ellen Wood, Karl Polanyi , Hobsbawm, Marx and Engels. In the second part, we will see how some of these authors position themselves regarding what the revolution was, represented and why it is essential for the understanding of English society. In the third part, we will deal with the impacts of the First Industrial Revolution in England, in its political, economic and social aspects, showing how it promoted significant changes within England, as well as how it shaped the capitalist system that would reign in most of the West.
