Resumo: The water balance components of a river basin are influenced by the soil characteristics of a basin, its use and coverage, and the pluviometric regime. The present study aimed to evaluate the hydrological dynamics of flows in the basin of the Japaratuba River in Sergipe using historical hydrology data from 1969 to 2017 grouped every 20 years. The hydrological behavior was evaluated by means of the determination of minimum reference flows (Q90 and Q7,10), averages (QMédia and Q50) and maximum reference flows (QTR10 and QTR50), applying statistical analysis in spreadsheets of Empirical, Normal, Weibull, Gumbel, Log-Normal, Log-Pearson Type III. The results were submitted to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov adhesion test, identifying the best statistical fit, the Mann Kendall test in the R software, establishing possible significant increase or reduction tendencies, and then confronted with the behavior of the precipitation series using the coefficient of Pearson correlation and with the characterization of soil types and use and coverage of the region. The data showed a significant trend of increase in average rainfall, except for the Japaratuba station area that did not show a trend. In the main river, Japaratuba, the minimum flow Q7,10 showed a significant trend of increase and the medium and maximum reference flows, a significant trend of reduction, performances that may be associated to changes in land use and cover. In the affluent Siriri, the possible increase of the rains is not being reflected in the minimum flows. At the maximum, the significant trend of increase depicts the possible interferences of the average rainfall and the predominant soil type, the Argisol. In the averages, the analysis considered anthropic influences that may have influenced the result against the high coefficient of variation of the samples. There was a significant trend of reduction of the minimum reference flows of the Japaratuba Mirim river and increase in the average and maximum, reflecting a probable behavior for regions of use and coverages predominated by pasture and Argisols. Pearson's correlation was more evident in smaller area basins such as Siriri, Japaratuba Mirim and Fazenda Cajueiro because the response time was faster.
