Avaliação do consumo alimentar e perfil socioeconômico de adolescentes da rede pública de ensino

Objective: To evaluate the dietary intake of macronutrients, iron, calcium, zinc, vitamin A and C; and to relate to the socioeconomic profile of adolescents from a public school in the municipality of Lagarto-SE. Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population was composed of adolescents from a public school of Lagarto-SE. Food intake data were collected through the application of the 24-hour food recall and socioeconomic data, through a questionnaire adapted from the Brazilian Economic Classification Criteria (CCEB) 2015. The parameters for assessments of food consumption adequacy were according to the Dietary Reference Intakes. Results: Of the students investigated, most belong to the economic class D-E (61,5%). Regarding energy consumption, 72.0% had insufficient consumption, 13.0% were adequate, and 15.0% were excessive. Among the macronutrients, carbohydrate intake was within the recommended limit for 74.0% of adolescents, protein intake was 97.0%, and lipid intake was 44.0%. Consumption below recommended levels was observed for calcium and vitamins A and C and above the recommendation for iron and zinc among most students. Conclusion: The results reinforce the need for strategies and implementation of programs and policies that provide adolescents and their families with access not only to adequate quantity and quality of food, but also to actions to promote healthy eating.
