Resumo: The process of wound repair is a fundamental phenomenon and covers aspects of cell proliferation, cell differentiation and presents biological and biochemical complexity, its onset occurs soon after the injury. In order to optimize this process, it is possible to find in the literature studies that prove the effectiveness of the use of biomaterials, highlighting for this purpose the biomaterial carvacrol, a phenolic monoterpene present in the essential oil of medicinal plants of the genus Origanum and Thymus (Lamiaceae) and the photobiomodulation a laser. This study aimed to analyze the tissue reaction with the inclusion of polyethylene tubes using carvacrol pulp associated or not with laser photobiomodulation (FBML) of λ660nm subcutaneously from the dorsum of Wistar rats. For this purpose, 60 animals were divided into four groups and received the following interventions: empty tube implantation (CTR); implantation of tubes containing carvacrol paste (CVC); implantation of empty tubes and laser photobiomodulation (LLLT); implantation of tubes containing carvacrol paste and laser photobiomodulation (CVCLT) and evaluated in the periods of 03, 08 and 15 days. After the euthanasia of the animals in their respective evaluation periods, the surgical specimens were removed and submitted to histological analysis for evaluation of the inflammatory reaction and fibroplasia in HE and Picrosirius Red stains, respectively. In the evaluation of the inflammatory process in the 3-day period, the CVCLT group had lower inflammatory infiltration in relation to the other groups (p<0.01). In the 8 and 15 days period, the LLLT and CVCLT groups presented less inflammatory lymphocytic infiltration than the other groups (p<0.01 and p<0.05). Regarding the evaluation of types I and III collagen, no significant difference was observed between the groups in the 3 day period. In the 8-day period, there was difference in the CVC group in relation to the other groups regarding the evaluation of type III collagen (p<0.001). And in the 15-day period, the only significant difference was observed between the CVCLT group in relation to the CTR and LLLT groups in the evaluation of type I collagen (p<0.05). The use of the carvacrol paste associated with laser photobiomodulation has been shown to optimize the inflammatory period of the tissue reaction.
