Resumo: | PURPOSE: To evaluate the prevalence of probable postpartum depression and its association with sociodemographic, individual, obstetric and child risk factors in women in the state of Sergipe. METHODS: Sub-analysis of the "Nascer em Sergipe" cohort study, which evaluated 768 puerpare from 11 maternity hospitals in the state of Sergipe between June 2015 and April 2016. The data were collected in person from interviews between 6 and 24 hours postpartum, through medical records analysis, and via phone calls between 45-60 days and 6 to 8 months postpartum, when depressive symptomatology was evaluated through the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, with a cut-off point =10, which was applied to 298 women. Data analysis was performed using the Fisher Exact test, and Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to evaluate mean differences. The level of significance was 5%. RESULTS: The prevalence of probable postpartum depression was 19.1% and was not associated with socio-demographic and child risk factors. Presented a greater chance of postpartum depression the patients who progressed with sexual dysfunction [ORa 3,11, 95%CI (1,57-6,17)] attempted to interrupt pregnancy [ORa 5,09, 95%CI (1,23-21,0)], and smoked during pregnancy [ORa 3,69, 95%CI (1,12-12,1)]. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of probable postpartum depression in Sergipe was high and smoking, attempted interruption of pregnancy, early maternal complications and postpartum sexual dysfunction were risk factors for this condition. |

CONCLUSION: The prevalence of probable postpartum depression in Sergipe was high and smoking, attempted interruption of pregnancy, early maternal complications and postpartum sexual dysfunction were risk factors for this condition.OBJETIVO: Avaliar a prevalência de provável depressão pós-parto e sua associação com fatores de risco sociodemográficos, individuais, obstétricos e infantis em mulheres do estado de Sergipe.
