Resumo: Currently, the steel mill companies to remain in the market, depend on flexibility and speed in the production process in order to allow the prompt fulfillment of production orders, guaranteeing the level of customer satisfaction. The lack of flexibility in production, impacts on the entire production chain, causing financial imbalance due to the loss of market. An alternative that aims to solve this question would be the reduction in the systemic and continuous form of the time of the exchanges of the stands and cutters. This would give companies greater flexibility and competitiveness in the market. The present work studied and analyzed the process mentioned in a steel mill through the development of a discrete simulation project aimed at improving the process. FLEXSIM software was used to construct the computational model. Several improvement scenarios were proposed, which presented a significant reduction in process time, making it a more efficient system.

A falta de flexibilidade na produção, impacta em toda a cadeia produtiva, causando desiquilíbrio financeiro em função da perda de mercado. Uma alternativa que visa solucionar essa questão, seria a redução na forma sistêmica e continuada do tempo das trocas das gaiolas e navalhas. Isso daria as empresas maior flexibilidade e competitividade no mercado. O presente trabalho estudou e analisou o processo citado em uma siderúrgica através do desenvolvimento de um projeto de simulação discreta visando a melhoria do processo. Para a construção do modelo computacional foi utilizado o software FLEXSIM.
