Resumo: This paper aims to examine the continuing evolution of the ecclesiastical justifications for violence, with greater focus on the analysis of the work written by the Cistercian monk Bernard of Clairvaux, De la excellence de la nueva militia, which was for the recent Order of the Knights of Christ. We hypothesized that the legitimations for the practice of war for the Christian community have all text as a metalanguage able to illustrate the individual and society that influenced this writer. Between these two poles duh other convergent divergent, Christianity and violence, war and justice, we explore a horizon of reflections on the theme of violence and its direct relationship with the desires of their society.

Trabalhamos com a hipótese de que as legitimações para a prática da guerra para a comunidade cristã possuem como todo texto uma metalinguagem capaz de ilustrar o indivíduo e a sociedade que influenciou tal escritor.
